The Milton Police Department is announcing several opportunities for the position of a Full-Time Police Officer. All applicants must fill out an Employment Application online, in person, or by mail. We are looking for candidates with a strong desire to join a team of dedicated officers providing professional police services to our community. The successful candidate can expect to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, on-call status, and overtime. General Duties - Uniformed Officer

  • Uniformed Preventive Patrol
  • Crime Prevention Activities
  • Responding to Calls for Service
  • Conducting preliminary investigations of crimes and incidents
  • Arrest and Processing Procedures
  • Traffic Accident and Investigation
  • Development of positive relationships with the public

General Duties - Detective

  • Conduct a variety of complex criminal investigations
  • Respond to scenes to assist patrol with various investigative functions
  • May be required to cover patrol shifts as needed and be on-call nights and weekends
  • Conduct personnel background investigations
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with state and federal partners
  • Responsible for evidence management and collection
  • Development of positive relationships with the public

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Must be at least (18) eighteen years of age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent 
  • Must be able to complete a comprehensive hiring process
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid Vermont driver’s license

  • Salary: $73,562 - $98,497 (Union Employee) | Hiring in Range for Pre-Certified Officers
