The Planning Commission holds hybrid (in person and via zoom) meetings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Making Suggestions to the Planning Commission

The Planning Commission serves as the Town's advisory body on land use planning and development regulations. As part of its responsibilities under 24 V.S.A. Chapter 117, the Commission reviews the Unified Development Regulations (UDR), considers whether amendments are warranted, and forwards recommendations to the Selectboard for public hearing and adoption. 

Community input is an important part of this ongoing process. If you have a suggestion for improving the UDR, please review the Amendment Suggestions Information Handout or contact the Planning & Zoning Department at (802) 893-6655, Option 4. Staff are happy to answer questions and help guide you through the process.

Preferred Sites Policy for Solar Facilities

If utility projects are considered public or will be net-metered to the grid, then they fall under the authority of the Vermont Public Service Board and are therefore exempt from local regulations and review. Act 174 of 2016 was established to create the framework for a new set of municipal and regional energy planning standards. In accordance with rules established by the Public Utility Commission, net-metering projects, other than hydroelectric facilities, that are large enough to produce more than 150 kilowatts, must be built on “preferred sites”.  The following site selection criteria provides a framework for determining the suitability of proposed sites for developing a net-metering project, as required by the State of Vermont.
