Cemeteries

There are eleven cemeteries in Milton, ten of which are overseen by the Town and one that is owned and managed by St. Ann’s Catholic Church. The Village Cemetery on upper Main Street and Miltonboro Cemetery on Beebe Hill Road are the only two cemeteries where plots are offered for sale.

Recommendations for cemetery improvements, bylaws, regulations, and fees related to burials and plot costs are made by the Cemetery Advisory Committee

Cemetery Grounds Maintenance

In the spring and summer months, Milton's Cemetery Superintendent visits cemetery grounds for regular maintenance.

As part of this maintenance, the Cemetery Superintendent removes decorations that have become unsightly. This includes cut flowers, arrangements and any live plantings that are overgrown, ill-kept and/or weatherworn.  He also removes items that are outside the 16" area from the headstone in order to clear the way for the lawn mowers.

Thank you for keeping our cemeteries clean and safe.
For guidance and instruction regarding decorations at burial lots, please reference the Cemetery Rules and Regulations (PDF).
