The Town of Milton needs alternate representatives for the following boards: Northwest Vermont Communications Union District, Chittenden Solid Waste District, and Green Mountain Transit. Please note that the primary representatives have already been appointed for these. 

Northwest Vermont Communications Union District Governing Board

The mission of the Northwest Vermont Communications Union District, dba. NW Fiberworx (NWFX), is to leverage partnerships and procure funding to connect Northwestern Vermont via Open Access Fiber to ensure opportunity for all homes and businesses in our region. 

NWFX has Regular Meetings and Special / Emergency Meetings via Zoom.  All meetings are warned, with the agenda and Zoom link, and resulting minutes, posted on the Meetings/Minutes section of the NWFX website. Meetings typically occur 6-7:30 on a weeknight (Tuesday/Thursday is most popular) about once a month. You can learn more at https://www.nwfiberworx.com

Chittenden Solid Waste District (CSWD) Board of Commissioners

The Chittenden Solid Waste District is a municipality created to implement solid waste management mandates legislated by the State of Vermont. The District is governed by a Board of Commissioners representing the communities of Chittenden County, Vermont. The Chittenden Solid Waste District’s mission is to reduce and manage the solid waste generated within Chittenden County in an environmentally sound, efficient, effective and economical manner. Executive Board meetings are at 5 p.m. on the third Monday of the month, and full Board meetings are at 6 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Please check the CSWD Calendar for up-to-date meeting dates and times, as they are subject to change to accommodate Board member schedules and other conflicting events. All Board meetings are open to the public and are held in person and via ZOOM.

Green Mountain Transit Board of Commissioners

The mission of GMT is to promote and operate safe, convenient, accessible, innovative and sustainable public transportation services in the northwest and central Vermont region that reduce congestion and pollution, encourage transit oriented development and enhance the quality of life for all. GMT is governed by a 14-member Board of Commissioners with two commissioners representing Burlington and one commissioner from Essex Town, Essex Junction, Hinesburg, Milton, Shelburne, South Burlington, Winooski, Williston, Washington County, Franklin County, Lamoille County, and Grand Isle County. Each Chittenden County commissioner is appointed to the GMT Board by their municipality. Seats are held for a 3-year term. Commissioners set organization goals annually and these long-term goals guide the General Manager of GMT and the priorities of the Authority for that Fiscal Year. 

The GMT Board of Commissioners meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Meetings are held at GMT’s administrative office at 101 Queen City Park Road in Burlington at 7:30 AM.
