The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) announces that the Interstate 89 Bridge 76 North, over Bay Road, located between Exits 16 and 17, has been reopened.

For the remainder of the week, Monday - Friday, I-89 will be reduced to one lane in the non-peak direction between the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM facilitated by crossover traffic patterns. Expect delays. Bay Road will be reduced to one lane with alternating two-way traffic throughout the week between the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM. Flaggers will be present.

I-89 northbound can be reduced to one lane during the weekday AM peak hours (6 AM and 10 AM) and the off-peak hours (10 AM to 2 PM & 7 PM to 6 AM). I-89 southbound can be reduced to one lane during the off-peak hours (10 AM to 2 PM & 7 PM to 6 AM) and the weekday PM peak hours (2 PM to 7 PM).

It is important for all motorists to remain vigilant adhering to the work zone signage and specifically the posted speed limits while this project is underway. Expect delays.

Interstate 89 Bridge 76 North, over Bay Road, located between Exits 16 and 17, will be closed between 7 PM Friday, August 9th and 6 AM Monday, August 12th, 2019. Traffic will be maintained as follows:

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES/NOTICES: Next week, crews will begin striping the temporary pavement markings along I-89 between Exits 16 and 17. Once striping is completed, crews will begin installing the jersey barrier near the center lane lines of I-89 between Exits 16 and 17 to facilitate the new crossover traffic patterns.

Crews will continue working on steel repairs on the substructure of Bridge 76 over Bay Road and constructing the causeway on I-89 out to Mallet's Creek near Bridge 77. The causeway will allow the crane to be positioned for use on the rehabilitation of Bridge 77 over Mallet's Creek.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES/NOTICES: Friday, June 21, crews will finalize roughing in the north side crossover on I-89, north of Bridge 77, over Mallets Creek and the north side crossover will be checked for proper alignment. Beginning next week, crews will start paving the north side crossover on I-89, north of Bridge 77, over Mallets Creek. If time permits, crews will begin paving the south side crossover south of Bridge 76, over Bay Road. Next week, crews will finalize concrete repairs and complete concrete pours on the piers and abutments of Bridge 76, over Bay Road. In addition, crews will be jacking Bridge 76, over Bay Road, to begin steel repairs.

Crews will be installing temporary detour signs along Bay Road and the Champlain Bikeway in preparation for the weekend bridge closures schedule to begin in mid-July.

Crews have completed setting the median barriers along I-89. Crews will continue striping top soil this week. Construction continues on the south side crossover south of bridge 76 over Bay Road. Repair work continues on the abutments and piers of bridge 76 over Bay Road.

In addition, installation of temporary traffic control signage throughout the work zone and along the vehicular and cyclist detour routes will begin next week if time allows.
